There are a couple of ways you can support the Ijebu Initiative.
- Financially. Currently our only means of financing this project is from the proceeds of the sale of our gear /merchandise. So please stop by our shop. The items are pretty cool. Hey, we do have a cool name after all. :-)
- Becoming a member.
While membership is free and on a voluntary basis, members have to work. We don't require you to devote more than a few hours a week on a project, but we do expect you to actually perform the task you are given.
If you are still reading this page at this point, we presume you are still interested so here are the types of work our members perform.
- Research. If you have an aptitude for finding information and weeding out the garbage that inevitably come with information gathering, then we want to hear from you.
- Proofreading. If you're a careful but fast reader that can spot spelling and grammatical errors, then you can help.
- System Q/A. We need testers for the website, its interface with the application engine (Enterprise Java Beans) as well as the interaction with our database system. This is not as complicated as it sounds. The developers will do alpha testing; we just need members that will help beta test the system and advice as to the usability of the website as well as any desirable functionality.
- Film crew. While we most likely will not be rolling into your city with 10 trucks full of lighting and visual effects equipment; we do need some help when filming our documentaries. You don't need a lot of experience, just good intentions :-)
Those that perform a significant amount of work will be given items free of charge from our merchandise store including shirts and hats.
Note the emphasis on the words significant amount of work. So don't just join in other to get freebies.
If you are interested in any of the above roles, please click on the relevant link or send an email to join@ijebu.org stating the role you wish to play.
You can switch roles and as a matter of fact we sometimes call upon members to help out in other areas.
It's strictly voluntary, if you're too busy to perform a particular task, we understand. You can even quit if you want. Just send a message to quit@ijebu.org and we shall bother you no more.
